They are delicious... and fun to look at!
Not to mention super easy to make and your kids will love them!
What am I talking about?
Rainbow cupcakes!
A little bit of food dye can turn most food into an adventure!
You need:
A mixer (or a strong arm)
"Pale" cake mix of your choice (I used ButterCreme)
Paper cupcake cups & cupcake pan
Food dye
& frosting!

I could never do what I do without this trust KitchenAid mixer. Very much worth the expense!
(it mixes good home made Mashed Potatoes too :P) |
 |
You can use homemade frosting or frosting out of a can that you spread on. I personally prefer this no fuss frosting by Pillsbury. If you frost thick though it will only frost around 18 cupcakes! |
 |
After you have mixed your batter in your blender (or by good old arm power), split your batter equally into 3 different bowls or containers....Add food dye {found in your local grocery to your batter} & mix. |
 |
Put one color at a time and make different layers for different designs! |
 |
Don't forget to grab a taste tester! |
 |
Put in the oven & Bake to deliciousness! |
 |
When you take them out of the oven let cool for 5 minutes and than use a butter knife to carefully get the cupcakes out of the pan and put them on a plate to cool. Not only will they cool faster but it frees the pan for more cupcakes! |
 |
After they cool off {cause no one wants melted frosting} frost to your hearts content! Use a helped or two if you want! This is a great fun project for kids. |
 |
Put some on a plate (but hide the rest for you or for later :P) and watch everyone enjoy!
{Look at how pretty-ful they are...Makes you what that frosting in a can huh?} |
 |
Look at how awesome the inside looks!
Enjoy! |
