Be my Valentine

Don't forget to check out the sewing pattern giveaway and enter! It ends friday! Tell your friends even if you don't want to join. They might love it!

In the past I haven't been much of a Valentine's day girl. I have the unfortunate luck of either breaking it off or just not having anyone for V-day. Not complaining though! I am not much for commercialized holidays anyway. However I have my little man this year and he is the only man for me.

I saw an adorable shirt in wal-mart the other day that said Eligible Bachelor. But I did not like the cheesy bowtie thing on it. Kind of made me cringe at the attempt to be cute. So I did what any other crafty momma would do. I came home and made my own shirt!

Hope this provides some inspiration...

Bachelor for the side (only thing I wish I did here was make the letters go up the side so that you had to tilt your head to read it... Know what I mean? B at the bottom. Okay hope that made sense)

My bug wears his heart on his sleeve.

Shirt- $3 wal-mart
On hand- freezer paper, fabric paint, iron, adorable child.

Total Cost: $3

How to: I used photoshop and combined images to make the heart with the arrow. I than chose a font that I liked off of dafonts.com. I printer both images out directly onto (the paper side) freezer paper that I cut into 8x10 sheets.

Cut out the images with an exacto knife on a cutting mat (so that you don't mess up your table). Grab up fabric paint of your choice and your iron. Iron the freezer paper onto your shirt on a low heat setting.

 Once it is all sealed apply fabric paint liberally or not so liberally if you want a distressed look. Put in a location where little fingers cannot grab it and let it dry over night. Peel off freezer paper and enjoy! (don't forget to use a pressing cloth once it is dry and iron the fabric paint to heat set it)

Enjoy! Have a awesome V-day!

Twas the baby's first Christmas...

Bug had his first Christmas! I of course was way more excited than he was, but that's okay next year will be amazing!

Christmas morning, Santa, Nana, Great grandparents, auntie Lexy and mommy spoiled him... Just a little.

Since his Nana, and Aunt's and Uncles live 8 hours away we did a video chat using Skype. Bug that it was awesome!

Here are some highlights.....

{stuff from his Nana stocking}

{talking to nana p.s. that is a toddler back pack I made him}

{taking his fish out of their fish bowl...another present I made him}

{opening his scout}

{giving scout love... I will be totally writing a review on this over the next couple of weeks}

{Riding his ride on from santa}

{opening his santa stocking... his two favorite spongebob and Reese's}

{He got a dirt devil vacuum since he likes to use mine from his walker... this child non stop vacuums everything now}

....

In bloggy news... Lots of new stuff happening around here soon. This month is going to be crazy getting ready for valentines, and of course Bug's first birthday! Looking forward to the new year.

I'm dreaming of a....White christmas? SAY WHAT?!

Yep here in Northwest georgia we had a WHITE CHRISTMAS! The first one in more than two decades!

And my (and of course bugs) first ever white christmas! Man it was exciting to wake up to all that beautiful white fluff! Something even the weather man was not predicting for our local area.
(click the photos to see our panoramic view)

{The front view off the porch}

After we took care of santa (that is another post all on its own) Bug and I bundled up and headed out to play in snow for the first time together! After a pathetic attempt at sledding down our hills on a plastic toy box top I  decided just to pull him around on our "sled".

{Mommy and Bug}

Did you get a beautiful white christmas?

Our snow is still here today! (a big deal for us because we usually are lucky to get flurries)

Just had to tell someone...

My mom made me wait until christmas to open my gifts that I recieved almost a week ago! Let me tell you it was hard... But well worth the wait...

I not only got the metal hand stamping set I was obsessed with getting... but...

Stitch by Stitch! I am a huge fan of the Whip Stitch fabric store and plan on going there again soon (it is an hour from me) So to say that I jumped up and down when I realized what my package was is putting it mildly.

Just had to tell someone that would understand.

Last year...

This time last year I was very very pregnant. At 30 weeks I was just 5 1/2 weeks shy of delivery my 10 lb 1oz baby boy.

(photo credit: Self)

It was at this point that they told me my baby was going to be pretty big despite the fact that I did not have gestational diabetes or anything. I just make big babies!

This time last year I was overjoyed with the thought of what the future held.

This year... I am excited as well. In 1 month my son is having his first birthday. I cannot believe that it has been a whole year! Where has the time gone?

What were you doing this time last year?

Happy Holidays and New year!

It's been a great year so far. I have discovered a lot of things about myself & and I got my son in February which was the most perfect valentines gift ever.

But in all this crazy end of the year-ness, I am sad to say that I am taking the rest of the year off.

Yeah I know it is just a couple of days... you guys will miss me though right?

I did a photo shoot with my son the other day under our christmas tree and it came out so cute! He is getting so big so fast. I cannot believe that he will be 1 in just a month! Time sure does fly.

I had to use wrapping paper as a distraction. I just gave him a whole roll to play with lol

I hope your holidays are merry! I have lots to accomplish from now until christmas eve!

The Sentimental Tree

There once was a jealous Christmas tree... The little tree was decorated with lots of random and not so much sense.
All the other Christmas trees were decorated with care. White with silver bulbs, green with white bulbs, lots of decorator sense and little sentiment.

It complained to it's decorator one day, "Why can't I be like the other trees? I want to match and be pretty, not random and ugly!" The decorator replied, "Oh my big lovely tree, you are not ugly! You are decorated with sentimental ornaments passed down for generations and years. You are the most gorgeous tree of all!"

"What kind of sentiment Ms. Decorator?", replied the tree.

"Well there is this tiny angel that has been around for at least 30 years, she is a set of plenty of decorate you each year."

"Than you can see the beauty and age in this one from 1985...This was a year before I was born!"

"This handmade beauty is only a couple of years old. But was made by a beautiful woman. Even though she has use of only one of her hands she made lots of these carefully for her family and friends."

"There is a new baby this year. Bug is his nick name and this is his first ever ornament! Next year his christmas morning photo will grace this frame!"

"And last but not least this tiny angel once graced the top of the tree of my great grandmother. She than gave it to my grandparents 51 years ago on their very first christmas together."

"So you see little tree. Your are the most lovely tree of all because you hold years of memories, experience, and sentiment."

Christmas Mayhem!

Well folks it is definitely Christmas crunch time!

I still have two major gifts to finish plus a bonus third possibly by tomorrow morning and here it is 11:30 at night and I am typing a blog. Yeah you can roll your eyes and think what I know your thinking,'Woman get your butt off the computer!'

But I just had to show you guys my tree! I am so proud of my tree. I do not do the whole "all one color" thing because our tree has history. We have tons and tons of ornaments, some dating back to the 1930's!

Isn't it gorgeous? I am so proud of it! Here is the making of the tree... Along with some other things that are christmas-y around around house!

Thankful Not so Wordless Monday...

This coming week is all about being thankful.

I am so thankful for ... my son. I am also thankful for the lessons (also known to some as mistakes) I made in the past that made me the person I am today. A somewhat wiser, loving mother.

Here was our week....

{I am thankful we get to see my niece and nephews to play hard outside with S & K)

{I am thankful that he is standing/pulling up on his own}

{I am thankful that we have a good heating system so that he can do this and I don't have to worry he is cold}

{Thankful that my niece lost her tooth FINALLY! but you could not tell cause her other one was already in behind it!}

{Thankful I am healthy enough for Bug to beat up on mommy some and than gave me love}

{Thankful that he is eating solids so well now and that we are slowly over coming the bad gagging reflex that comes with his severe reflex}

{Thankful that he is feeling healthy again so that I can see this gorgeous smile}

{& last but not least (or certainly all) I am thankful that he is finally learning to crawl on hands and knees instead of just his stomach since I was kind of starting to worry}

37 days and counting

There are only 37 days left until christmas!

I know what your thinking... Lordie Megan it isn't even thanksgiving yet and your already thinking about christmas?! Well truth me told I have been thinking about christmas for 2 months or more... I already have all of Bug's presents bought (that ones that I am going to buy) & I am wrapping up my sewing for him as well.

I still have a ton of sewing to do for cousins, siblings, my grandparents, and mom!

So in celebration I have decided to make 2 gifts a week from either tutorials I have found online or something I made up myself.

I will post my adventures and links to the tutorial (or my own tutorial) as I go.

That is 2 tutorials a week! 2 awesome gifts! & Lots to do in the next 5 weeks.

So check back often for some awesome stuff!

If you are local to the northwest georgia area come and check us out at the North georgia's crafter market! It is this Saturday November 20th from 8am-2pm in Lafayette, GA. That is approximately 35 minutes from Chattanooga, TN.

Trick or...stand in line.

My little bug in his halloween outfit... A Modern Day Cowboy!

Ever gone to a halloween walk?

I did... My first one ever!

It was supposed to be 4 mini cuties, my best friend, and myself.
Well turns out one of our minis had a melt down before we even left and wrote all over the walls of my best friends brand new apartment. So he did not get to do the halloween walk. (harsh? Yes... effective... very!)

So myself and 3 minis went while best friend and her eldest son sat in the car.
Now... just in case you have never done a halloween walk before let me explain what it is... Local businesses come and set up with candy and cards. Can you guess who gets what? Yep the parents get jipped! Not to mention there were 215 people... count them 215 people in front of us. No joke. We waited in line for an hour for a 10 minute walk. But... I love those kids.

So it was fun!

{best friend and her mini cuties}

{Mommy and bug}

We than went to town for a trick or treat neighborhood walk that the police were helping with by blocking off streets. This was so much fun! (melt down child did get to trick or treat here) To see the joy on my little boys face every time someone fawned over him and to watch him look inside the trick or treat bag at every stop was so funny!

I could just see him licking his lips every time a peanut butter cup went in because he knows that momma let's him have that kind of candy. (he is limited because of the lack of teeth and good chewing abilities at 9 months old)

& he fell asleep the last half a block.

So all in all halloween went great! I even dressed up in my black "budget ninja costume" shirt.

What did you do for halloween? Lots of candy goodies? Are you sneaking some of them? I know I am!

Not so Wordless Mondays- Watermelon

Kludgy Mom

Have you checked out the B2S/B2B 6 week course going on over at KludgyMom.com
Gigi has put together a 6 week course to kick our bloggy butts back into shape! :D
It kicks off on Sept 12th and doesn't require an everyday commitment! So it is perfect for all of us busy bloggers/mommies.

__________________________________________

So I am def running behind this week... I am so sorry but it has been hectic with labor day! In fact I did not even do a Link it Up Saturday this week because of it!
{we will pick up this coming Saturday with Link it up}

This weekend we were super busy with a family reunion and lots of cleaning!

{getting ready for our big reunion}

I am also trying something new with Bug... It is called Baby led weaning or baby led solids. The whole point is to never give them purees just start them on regular big people food right away at 6 months... Teach them to chew before they swallow!! Well we had already started purees since 5 months... But since I just read about this the last few weeks we have been trying more solids like vienna sausage chicken bites and banana etc... He has done good so far...

Today we tried Watermelon! And boy did he love it!
Don't believe me?

{Chewing a big chunk... it kinda made me nervous}

{Where'd it go ma?}

We had an eventful week!

Oh and I didn't even get to tell you about my 4 boxes of mystery fabric I got for $25.00 when I was playing the thrifty shopper the other day!
But that is for another day!
